House on the Hill

I love visiting my G&G's house in Independence, KS. They have nicknamed their homeplace "The House on the Hill." On their answering machine they (in unison) say, "This is the house on the hill. Please leave a message" in their sweet old shaky voices. I love the prayers my grandpa makes rhyme at the dinner table. I love the way my Grammy rolls her eyes and shakes her head at my Grandpa's stories and says "Here.....here" which is her way of calling him out or correcting his memory. I love it all. I love them. You would too.
