being american

I need a car that doesn't get broken into.

I need someone to pay off my ridiculous private collegiate education.

I need a job I don't hate.

I need a purchased home with hardwood floors and a red door.

I need an income that can support our dreams that won't require me to work 12 hour days.

Much love,

Me being okay with my selfish American tendencies.

Why does any of that qualify as "selfish"? It isn't selfish to dream and it isn't selfish to work your tail off and EARN a great life. You can do it and you will, if you put your mind to it. Being American means you're durn lucky - you live in a country that makes every single thing you listed not only possible, but probable. Set your mind in that direction, be positive, and don't take no for an answer. I swear you will earn everything you deserve.
